Dagny went to Six Flags Great Adventure amusement park in New Jersey with her friends Gina and Abby. Dagny loves big bad roller coasters and other thrill rides. Luckily she found friends that love them too.
It would not be the 4th of July without our traditional giant American flag cookie. Happy Birthday America - the land that we love!
Antonia shows off the giant cookie with Dagny. We had friends over for a 4th of July Barbecue. It was over 100 degrees (which is very rare in this area). We ate inside and finally got to go outside to play and watch fire flies about 9pm when the sun went down.
Saturday July 3rd we took our friend Laura to the concert and fireworks at West Point. The 1st year cadets of West Point also enjoyed the concert with us. Below is a picture of the 1,800 cadets arriving.
We set up a nice picnic area to watch the concert and fireworks.
Below is the cadets (white shirts) seated in front of the West Point band overlooking the "Million dollar view" of the Hudson River.
In the auditorium of Goshen High School just before Dagny played her orchestra concert at the end of the two week summer music program.
You can see Dagny's head poking up to the right. Violas need better visibility!
Dagny has been begging for horse back riding lessons since birth and finally in her 11th year she gets her wish. She is a natural in the saddle. She is very easy going and great with the horses. She beams with joy when she is with the horse and she does not mind all the work that goes along with riding.
Dagny enjoying her time riding Rocky.
Miguel at Falcon Ridge is incredible. We are so lucky to work with him. He is wonderful with the kids and horses. Tessa looks so cute on Rocky.

County Fair Time! Both girls took eight 4-H projects to the Orange County fair in July. All blue ribbons were received. We also did our tomatoes, first time for gardening for us. We received a red ribbon as the three tomatoes were not similar enough to each other. We will get the blue next year. Tessa is shown below with the judge talking about the no sew blanket she made all by herself. The judges love the puppy and puppy paw pattern on the fleece.
Dagny is with the judge talking about her wood rain gutter regatta boat she made.
Teddy Roosevelt's home in Long Island, Sagamore Hill. Lots of dead animal "trophies" in that house. Very interesting history and a beautiful area. Best of all - another stamp in our National Park passport book.
Sagamore Hill home. We loved sitting on the porch with the breeze off the Atlantic Ocean on our faces.
Not only did the girls get their Junior Ranger badges, Sagamore Hill had a Letterbox activity that the girls loved. Below they are making their own rubber stamp. We follow the clues in the book with a compass and find a small rubbermaid box. In the box is a book and stamp. We stamp our stamps in the book and used the stamp in the box to stamp our book.
Family fun at the Orange County Fair in Middletown. We went back to see the 4-H exhibits on display during the fair. Plus we enjoyed the rides and very entertaining scary people watching. The girls had unlimited ride passes and there was hardly any people there on a Thursday night, so the girls got our money's worth. Tessa rode the bumper cars for three hours. She was so happy to finally be tall enough to drive. The final ride, for about five minutes, was just Tessa and two of the carnival ride operators - hilarious! She now has carnival friends. The same operators were at the NY State fair and Tessa and the operators were excited to see each other again - too funny!
The girls had a very busy summer. They took tennis lessons, so they knew how to use the tennis court in our community. Dagny did the Orange County Summer Music program in Goshen for her viola for two weeks. Both girls did a one week Creative Writing Workshop with Mr. Barlow, Dagny's 5th grade teacher. Both girls also did horse back riding lessons and continued with ice skating lessons. Besides spending a lot of time at our community swimming pool. Thank you to dad for being the best daddy taxi ever!
